Match report 2 wins out of 2 for the Academicals.
The day started well by winning the toss and batting first, avoiding have to field in the midday heat.
Not the best start with Harry forgetting to hit the ball and getting a first baller, he makes up for it with the ball so will cut him some slack.
Another will tell shortly after, followed by a steady partnership from Atkinson and Southern. Atkinson fell next. Hayden in next and provided some great support while Davey pushed the score along. Hayden next to go followed soon by his dad. This brought Ellis in for his first game of the season and it wasn't long till he started catching up with Daveys score. Davey then fell for 35. Next up was Kieron then Erika bothmpriving good support for Ellis who was still going strong. After they fell, Horny in at 10 for a short stint before he decided Mark should have a bat, Mark rising to the challenge decided hwnwould score a few runs. Ellis soon passed his maiden senior 50, well done. He eventually fell for 58 Mark 15 not out.
Defending 148 we took to the field and thanks to some steady bowling and some great work in the field ( although catching is still our Achilles heal ) we chipped our way through the batting order, Harry bowling a great spell of 4 - 11, Davey and Mark taking 2 wickets and Ellis finishing of a great day with 2 wickets and deservedly taking the winning wicket. In the field some great effort from everyone with the youngsters not afraid to take a bruise or two for the team.
A great win against a strong opposition.
