For the first time in many years the 1st X1 secured some silverware. They faced off against Lanchester in the Eric Topham Trophy final at Blackfyne on a sunny Sunday afternoon. The visitors chose to bat first but the home side produced arguuably one of their best bowling and fielding displays of the season to restrict cup specialits Lanchester to 107/8. Helped by two excellent ctaches from Robbie Winn, one of which removed dangerman Nicotra and 3 wickets from Callan McCabe Consett had given themsleves a chance. Kieran Taylor top scoring for Lanchester with 36.

In reply Consett got off to an excellent start with yet another unseen opening partnership of Stokoe and McCabe. They were quickly out of the blocks to put on an opening stand of 45 before Stokoe departed for 45. Captain Graham promoted himself to number 3 and helped progresss the score to 77 before McCabe fell for a very well compiled run a ball 39. Graham and Winn took the score past 100 and the with the winning line in sight first Winn was bowled by Taylor before Graham attempting to seal the win with a big hit was caught at mid-off for an excellent 35. It was then left to Pyke and Bradley to seal the win as they knocked off the remaining few runs.

The youthful team was visibly thrilled to seal the victory in front of one the largest crowd seen at Blackfyne this season. Captain Graham was almost caught smiling as he collected the trophy... Well done everyone and lets hope its not another 20 odd years before the next silverware is placed in the cabinet from the 1st X1....
