Our Junior Committee met last night at the club to finalise a lot of what is happening throughout 2024. Please see the below newsletter for a full update.

Junior Newsletter
After a very successful 2023 for our Junior Section we are raring to kick off 2024.
2024 will see us hopefully adding another 2 teams in the form of an additional Girls U11s soft ball team and our U15 hard ball boys team.
This will mean we have U9s boys, 2 x U11s girls, U11s, U13s & U15 teams. We also have an introduction to cricket in our Allstars sessions which was attended by 50 children last year.
Our Indoor Programme Consists of the following;
U9s & U11s Girls. Consett Sports Centre.
Sunday 21st Jan till Sunday 11th Feb (4 weeks)
10.30 till 12 noon.
U11s, U13s & U15s. Consett Sports Centre
Sunday 18th Feb till Sunday 24th March (6 weeks)
10.30 till 12 noon.
The cost of these sessions will be £5 to cover hall costs etc.
For the older juniors who would like to play Senior cricket in 2024 the Senior Nets are on for 6 weeks at Emmanuel College, Gateshead. Sat 17th Feb till Sat 23rd March. 2pm till 4pm.
Again the cost will be £5 per session.
If anyone has siblings or friends that are interested in giving cricket a go our AllStars sessions will run again for 8 weeks from early May. Dates, times etc still to be confirmed but it will remain a Friday Night.
Once the weather improves 🤞 and we get outside from Mid April time, team sessions and matches will look like this;

Subs
After much discussion within the Junior and Club Committee the yearly subs for all the juniors have been increased for 2024.
The cost will be £60 and will cover all training and matches during the Summer.
We feel for the training and guidance we provide it is still great value for money. It is approx £12 per month when you break it down. For those with more than one child there will be 50% discount applied. For example, Child one £60, child 2 £30.
For 2024 all of the above will apply to the Girls Teams. No longer will the girls registrations be done through the ECB Dynamos site. They will be registered directly to the club.
As normal we will hold our Junior Registration and Interactive Family Quiz before the season starts.
This year it will be on Friday 22nd March from 7pm in the Clubhouse.
Fundraising Events
A couple of things that are upcoming to put in your diary;
Friday 2nd Feb - Junior FIFA Night in the Clubhouse from 7pm. Entry Fee £5
Cash Prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd Places.
The one we did last year was very popular so please try and come along.
Sunday 3rd March - Bag Packing Day at Tesco, Consett. 10 - 4
Will be looking for helpers within each team age group to do various time slots during day. Please let Stu Graham know if you can help out.
Sponsored Walk. Sunday 14th April 12 Noon. From the Kings Head Pub Car Park at Lanchester back to the Cricket Club. Approx 7+ miles.
Buffet & Drinks on arrival at Cc.
All takings for the events will go back into our junior section for kit, external coaching sessions etc. We are always looking for ideas so again please shout out if you have any.
Kit
This year the club will not be placing a large kit order. It will be up to yourselves to purchase team kit directly from our suppliers Lorimers at Bishop Auckland. We have our own Club Shop on their website which is easy to access and order from – Lorimers4cricket.co.uk. There is a page dedicated to Consett in the club clothing section.
In addition to this I ask on the Registration Night that anyone brings any unwanted kit clothing or equipment along and we give other people in section opportunity to have it for a small donation or free in some cases.
As always we are happy to discuss anything involving the juniors on or off the field. We are open to ideas and any help parents, friends or family can give would be greatly appreciated.
