Eric Topham Trophy 2016

21 Jun 2016

The 3rd staging of the Eric Topham trophy takes the format of a knockout cup competition. This competition is played in memory of Eric at his wife Joan's request. Eric was a keen supporter of cricket in the Derwentside area having played for Shotley Bridge, Medomsley and Leadgate and later going on to be an umpire who often frequented Blackfyne.

The knockout cup is staged between 8 local team in the form of a 20 over a side cup tie. This will culminate in a final to be held at Blackfyne.

The first round draw for the trophy is:

A: Lanchester v Lintz

B: Annfield Plain v Whickham

C: Leadgate v Consett

D: Shotley Bridge v Beamish

The semi finals will be played between winners of games A & B, and C & D respectively.

Our own first round tie has been confirmed for Thursday 7 July, where local rivals Shotley Bridge await in the semi-final, having previously defeated Beamish.
