Consett are very pleased to be able to announce a new signing to add to our 1st X1 ranks for the 2023 season.

The player in question joins us from Swalwell after 8 very successful seasons at the top of their order which have seen him score almost 4,000 runs, with a highest score of 141. John is well known for being a talented player among the local circuit and we would be lying if we said he hadn't been on our radar for a few seasons now. He will also provide the team with a slow bowling option, he is more than handy with the ball having snared 97 victims at 21.84 during his time at Swalwell, with a best of 5/21 - no mean feat when playing second fiddle to Nicky Phillips.

John is a likeable lad who is well known among our club members and we expect that he will integrate very well with his new team mates, as well as bringing undoubted run scoring ability to our top order. We very much look forward to seeing him in a Consett shirt in April (make sure you get one John, you'll be getting fined if you aren't wearing one!) and we are quite confident he will be present at the club before then as he is no doubt very keen to support the club socially....
