Consett are delighted to announce a further signing to bolster our 1st X1 for 2023 - This time we are pleased to introduce Lee Whitfield.

Like our announcement on Friday, Lee joins us from Swalwell. Lee had a fantastic season with the bat in 2022 which saw him finish 7th in the run scoring charts in Division 1 as he accumulated 644 runs at 35.78, making a season high of 101. Across his career to date he has also featured for Blaydon, Gateshead Fell and Burnopfield, meaning that he has a wealth of NEPL experience as well as NTCL nouse. We are confident that Lee could arguably the standout home-grown batter in Division 1 in 2023 and will add even more firepower to the Blackfyne outfit's top order, having amassed 6,000 career runs to date. 

Not content with scoring plenty of runs, Lee is also a more than capable seam bowler. His 210 victims at 21.42 are testament to this and we are sure he will provide the team with another excellent bowling option to accompany those who are already part of the team. 

Another top local lad who will fit nicely into his new team, as well as being able to add his knowledge of the game, seeing us push to improve upon our 2022 showing and aim for something more akin to our 2021 title winning season.
