GFORCE14 Benefit Talk In Featuring Special Guest TBA

29 Aug 2014

As some of you will be aware already, Gareth Breese and Gordon Muchall are having a joint benefit year at Durham this year. As part of this they are going all round the north east hosting various events some of which our club members have already attended which included a sportsmans dinner at the glamorous Ramside Hotel, a talk in with with Gareth, Gordon and special guest Graham Onions at Annfield Plain CC and a one off T20 including legends of the game at Durham School.
Friday August 29th will see the pair host an evening at Consett. Gareth has already told us that he will be working extra hard to bring a surprise guest or two along for the occasion so we can get an insight into the lives of what it's like being a cricketer both on a serious level and who the biggest joker is in the dressing room and so on. As most of you know Gareth has played international cricket himself but says he will be trying his best to see if he can secure the services of another international along side himself.
The aim of these nights is to raise money for both Gareth and Gordon but not just the two of them. As part of their benefit they have chosen charities that they wish to see benefit from their fund raising efforts. We start with Gareth who was chosen to nominate the worthy cause of Macmillan. “My Mother in law Beverley was diagnosed with, treated for and passed due to endometrial cancer in 18 months, so MacMillan North East was the logical choice for us. They are a fantastic charity and support persons with all forms of cancer. It’s an absolute pleasure to be associated with Macmillan North East.”
Gareth Breese

Every day a staggering 8 people in the County Durham area are today being told the devastating news that they have cancer. Macmillan Cancer Support provides practical, medical and financial support and push for better cancer care. £27 could pay for a Macmillan nurse for an hour, helping patients and their families.

Gordon has chosen to support the North East Autism Society; “My son Adam was diagnosed with autism in 2013. As a parent you appreciate the support and opportunities available through this great charity to enable your child to fulfil their potential. NEAS offer education, work placements, training and much more. I’m looking to raise awareness of the charity and assist with vital funding.”
Gordon Muchall

The North East Autism Society is a registered charity that provides a full package of support to families living with autism across the North East. Their services include specialist education, social and vocational training, residential care, short breaks, outreach and family support.

And as a pair they will be helping to raise money for the PCA Benevolent Fund;

The PCA Benevolent Fund is part of the Professional Cricketers’ Association’s commitment to helping current and former players and their dependants in times of hardship and upheaval, or to readjust to the world beyond the game.

Few vocations carry so much uncertainty as that of a professional cricketer. The demands of playing any sport for a living leaves little time to consider and plan for unforeseen misfortunes in the future.

Benevolent issues are those that pull at everyone’s heart strings and can sometimes be the difference between life and death. This emphasises the important work that the PCA does in generating funds.

Tickets will be going on sale soon and full details of special guests and running order on the night will be published as soon as they are finalised. This is not a profit making venture for Consett CC. All profits from the evening including ticket sales, raffles and auctions will go straight to Gareth and Gordon to distribute between their chosen worthy causes so it would be fantastic to see as many of you in attendance as possible to support two stalwarts of the North East cricket scene and give them the credit and help that they both fully deserve!! Tickets will be limited as after all the bar in the club house is quite cosy. If you've already made your mind up and want to come along then why not give Alan Waters a shout on 07759208178 to reserve some tickets.

We look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible to support this fantastic GFORCE14 campaign and hope that in return we can provide you with an excellent evenings entertainment. If you want to know any more about the GFORCE14 campaign then please visit http://gforce14.co.uk
