GFORCE 14 Benefit Talk In With John Hastings

29 Aug 2014

We can confirm the guest for the talk-in is Australian international and IPL player John Hastings.

Nicknamed 'The Duke' (his forenames are John Wayne) Hastings is a skilful bowler and strong lower order batsmen who has represented his country on 15 occasions.

Having left his native New South Wales in 2007, Hastings became Victoria's leading wicket taker in all three formats and was named as the Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year in 2010.

Hastings' impressive form persuaded the Australian selectors to pick him for the ODI series with India. Shortly after, Hastings made his T20 International bow and impressed as he took 3-14 from four overs in only his third match against Sri Lanka.

Surprisingly, that was his last T20 appearance for his country, but Hastings was selected for the final test match against South Africa at Perth in 2012. He dismissed AB De Villiers and was Australia's second top scorer in their first innings, but couldn't prevent the Proteas from recording a comprehensive victory.

Away from cricket, Hastings is a qualified PE teacher and a talented rugby player.

This season he smashed 80 off 26 balls when recording Durham's fastest ever half century (19 balls) in a 20/20 win over Northants.

Tickets are £10 and include a pie and pea supper.
