Charity Race Night for The National Autistic Sociiety

26 Oct 2013

The final Saturday of October sees Consett CC play host to a charity race night in order to try and help a cause that his been firmly supported all year by former 1st X1 captain Andrew Waters. During the course of 2013 Andrew has taken place in 5 of the regions half marathons and fun runs in order to raise money for such a worthy cause. These have included The GNR no less which he completed in a Personal Best time of 2 hours and 7 minutes (no mean feat if you saw how little training he had done for it). He also completed 2 runs in his hometown of Middlesborough, One in Sunderland and one in Redcar. His achievements so far have been fantastic.

As one last hurrah he would feel most privileged if everyone would care to join him and evening they are all capable of taking part in as we all know not too many would have been keen to follow him round all 5 of his runs. We do however know that pretty much everyone is more than partial to a few drinks and a friendly low scale gamble on a selection of pre-recorded races where anything can happen.

David and Lesley Wilkinson as ever are providing the pictures and race card and the ever eagle eyed David Williamson will be playing bookmaker for the evening. Horses are available for purchase at £3 per horse and there will be a minimum of 6 races all of which have already been sponsored which is brilliant.

However if anyone wishes to purchase horses in advance then the race card will be available to view in the club from Saturday 12th October or you can make enquiries to Andrew 'Bushy' Waters, Alan Waters, Peter Stoddart or David Wilkinson any time from now. Also anyone wishing to support the event in any other way please feel free to contact the club be it with the kind offer of raffle or auction prizes or just simply with any donations from people who are maybe unable to attend for whatever reason.

We really look forward to hosting an evening to support such a worthy cause and hope that each and every one of you will help us to pack the place out and make it the success it deserves to be. Many thanks in advance from all those involved.
