Handy Andy swaps Church Road for Blackfyne!

The club are delighted to announce that leg-spinning all-rounder Andrew Ebdale will be joining The Steelmen for the 2026 season. 

The 33 year old north-east native has plenty of experience behind him having started out as a junior at Washington before spells at Blyth and Eppleton. 

With just over 5000 career runs and a best of 103* to go with his 503 wickets with a best of 6/64, it’s no doubt that he has plenty to offer at Blackfyne. His spin bowling will no doubt be suited to the larger playing surface on offer for his home games as well as being able to offer crucial runs in the middle order. 

Said Andy on his move, “I’m really looking forward to getting started at Consett and hope that the team are able to push for promotion”. With a league re-structure due at the end of the 2026 season, he knows all too well the ambitions of the club and is looking forward to being a part of it. 

We hope that you will all make him feel welcome when you meet him and get the chance to see him in action. Those who have worked behind the scenes to secure his signature have spoken very highly of his enthusiasm and attitude, we can’t wait to see that on the field!
