Jack looks to ensure NTCL rivals will be Slane…

24 Nov 2025

We are delighted to announce our third signing of the winter as Jack Slane has opted to swap Ashley Park for Blackfyne for the 2026 season. The 22 year old all-rounder is no stranger to a spot in the top order and is a more than capable seam bowler too!

Having started out as a junior at Shotley Bridge and then played the majority of his senior cricket at Lanchester, he has already amassed over 4000 runs including a best of 140 as well as having bagged 190 poles including a best of 7/25. The true mark of an all-rounder is that their batting average is higher than their bowling average and with Jack’s batting average coming in at 6 runs higher than his bowling average, he’s earned the title.

He has leadership experience too having been captain of the 2nd X1 at Lanchester, impressive at such a young age. His move comes as he seeks to feature as a regular in first team cricket while continuing to post impressive numbers with both bat and ball. Jack is very keen to get to know his new team mates and is hoping that alongside Bandu, Andy and the existing players, that he can be challenging and the right end of the league and putting some good cup runs together.

Another quality addition for The Steelmen, we look forwarding to seeing Jack in the maroon and gold. As always, well done to those working behind the scenes this winter and make sure you all give him a warm welcome when you see him around the club 😁
