The Steelmen are delighted to welcome talented local all-rounder Kieran Gohery to Blackfyne for the 2027 season.

Kieran is a gritty opening batter and skilful opening bowler who will add a great level of expertise to the 1st X1 as well as a competitive edge and will to win. 

It is no secret that his signature has been a much sought after one around the region after he announced that he would be leaving Lanchester at the end of 2026 after 8 years and we are delighted that he has chosen to make Consett his new home. He has also represented Annfield Plain and Lintz.

During his career he has racked up a handful short of 10,000 runs at 32.27 with a highest score of 114* as well as having taken 535 wickets at 19.63 with a best of 8/14 🤯 

Kieran is looking forward to joining the club and helping his new team mates to edge the decisive moments in games that will hopefully see them challenge at the top end of the table in 2027. 

1st X1 skipper Jimmy commented “I’m over the moon to get a player of Kieran’s proven quality into the side as we look to push on. He will be a great fit into the current team environment” or words to those effect for the sake of publication 🤔

A big thanks goes to Jimmy, Ste and Stu for their efforts behind the scenes in the close season so far. If we are really lucky, their efforts may yet bear further fruit…
