AFGHAN TEST STAR SHAHIDULLAH SIGNS FOR CONSETT FOR 2022!
After striking gold in 2021 with overseas signing Azim Kazi, the club were keen to repeat the trick for 2022. Sadly, Azim was unable to re-enage with the club and we wish him all the very best for the future and know that he was very much a fan favourite throughout the season.
After consultation with Steven from Cricx, the chairman and 1st X1 captain set about securing their desired target for the coming season. Again a top order batsman who could provide some much needed flight and guile to the team was the order of the day. Steven provided us with many potential suitors but in the end one stood head and shoulders above the other candidates.
At the age of only 22, Shahidullah made his test debut in March this year for his native Afghanistan during a win against Zimbabwe. He is captain of his domestic side Mis-Ainak Region and despite his younger years, already boasts 10 first-class centuries to his name. He has represented Afghanistan A and Under 19's as well as featuring in several other squads to date. He boasts a ridiculous First-class average of 57.65 from 22 outings as well as a List-A average of 42.73 from 38 outings. He has just guided his domestic side to List-A glory in October, finishing with accolades of best batsman and best all-rounder. He is a more than capable left-arm orthodox spin bowler who will undoubtedly prove to be a player than none of our opponents look forward to facing.
You can connect with Shahidullah via social media if you wish to check him out. His Instagram is - shahidullahkamal25 and his Twitter - @25shahidkamal
