When something seems to good to be true - it usually is!

On this occasion, its fantastic news for Shahidullah, the Afghan professional who we had secured to grace the Balckfyne turf in 2022 but sad news for ourselves. Having signed him due to his outstanding domestic record and the fact that he was already involved in the national set up alongside world stars such as Rashid Khan, Mohammed Nabi and so on, we always knew that there was a risk that he would receive further call ups. Another stellar domestic season and a full year round international fixture schedule means that his national team have come calling and that it is impossible for him to commit to playing many - if any games for The Steelmen this season. 

We are grateful that we have found out at this point and are currently working hard with Steven from Cricx to secure the best replacement possible to ensure we retain a very competitive team through recruiting a professional that will again give us an edge for the coming season. There will be a further update once we know more and have put pen to paper, so please keep your eyes peeled for when that announcement comes. 

In the meantime we would like to wish Shahid all the very best in his upcoming series against The Netherlands which begins on Friday (the games are on freesports in the UK from 7am if you want to relive the Sunday nights of yesteryear and see what we could have won...) and hope that his performances warrant a secure place in the team going forward.
