Match report An excellent second win of the season for the Barmy Army and a second victory of the season for captain Wilkinson. A rain affected match which almost threatened to ruin the game altogether due to a failure to reduce the overs which saw Cosnett bowl their 45 overs on only 1 hour and 49 minutes to ensure the game was finished before the 8.15pm cut off point, a superb effort having earlier been worried about whether or not to declare. As it turned out the failure to declare proved pivotal as the returning Nick Cook after missing most of the season with injury smashed an unbeaten 121 including 12 fours and 6 mighty sixes lifting Consett to an imposing 260/9. Bill Quay made no effort to chase this total and despite their best time wasting tactics Consett ran out victors by 117 runs as they squeezed the overs in and despite not taking all 10 wickets still managed the win and 18 precious points in their bid to retain First Division status for next season. Fantastic effort lads, well done!!!
