Delayed start reduced to 35 overs per side after reluctant agreement to proceed from Philadelphia captain who deemed a covered wicket and firm outfield unsuitable for play despite Consett electing to bowl first. An amateur first ten overs from Consett saw Philadelphia reach 50 without loss before a strong come back aided by Jack Marshall (7-4-7-3), Jamie Bradley (5-1-11-3) and Dave Southern (7-2-36-2) saw them lose all ten wickets for a further 43 runs.

In reply another solid opening stand from Jamie Bradley and Kieran Winn worth 64 in 16 overs saw the main part of the chase all but done before Kieran was bowled having made 20 and became the 6th player this season to pass 200 runs for the 3rd X1. Andrew Ray then joined Jamie Bradley at the wicket and they blasted 33 runs off the next 3 overs to hurry the visitors to a maximum 20 point victory and leave hosts Philadelphia scoring none at all.

Another notable victory as Consett won for the second time this season despite fielding only ten men and at the end of this game sit only four points behind league leaders Littletown which promises to deliver a very exciting finish heading into the final game of the season!

Not for the first time this season a fine all round performance of 45 not out and 3 wickets saw man of the moment earn yet another Man Of The Match acoolade, well done Jamie!!

Dick Of The Day despite several early fielding errors from various members, especially Kierans delightful four overthrown was easily awarded to the most hungover man in the north east Daniel Pyke, A thoroughly professional performance throughout amazingly only brought 6 byes, another dropped catch off Simon Wilkinson and a wallop on the knee so this was thoroughly deserved well done mate!!

Back to league action again next week as we make the trip to what looks like a strong Boldon CA team hoping to stretch the current unbeaten run of 9 league games into double figures. Best of luck everyone!!
